18 Jul Simple Things
I am so incredibly overwhelmed and thankful for the amazing people in our lives who made our wedding day possible and so special. (and I promise this will be that last wedding-related post I make here).
My parents, for their knowledge, support, encouragement and unconditional love through P and I trying to plan a wedding long distance. My mom was an incredible stand-in for P during meetings, appointments, brainstorming and crafting. They opened their home to my bridal party the day of, where we all got our hair and makeup done and got ready. The day after, they hosted an almost 30-person barbecue to our family as well. There’s no way I can thank them enough for their support and love.
My sister and maid of honour for being there for me through it all despite living 2 hours away. She came to all three of my showers (and co-planned-and-hosted one), listened to my crazy ideas, crafted whenever she could and put together an incredible bachelorette weekend. On the day-of she delegated and took charge so I could relax and enjoy my very first moments as a newlywed.
Our whole wedding party, who made financial sacrifices and took time out of their busy lives and schedules to be there for us. They all showed up to the venue the day before and were more then happy to help ice our cake, determine seating, decorate windows, hang lights, run out to get supplies, make flower garlands and more. On our wedding day, they helped calm our nerves, stood up for us (while looking amazing, of course), danced with us and celebrated with us.
Our amazing guests, who traveled from far and wide to be with us and make our wedding day so very special. We couldn’t have imagined a better group of people to celebrate with.
And finally, Paul, for staying up with me for late night wedding planning phone calls and for traveling in between his crazy shifts to help however he could. Venue visits, dreaming, date nights, food tastings, pre-marital counselling, crafting, budgeting. The day-of and throughout our honeymoon, he patiently sat with me as I wrapped my head around the events of the past few days. (Wow…. we’re married! I can’t believe we’re married! I can’t believe that was our wedding! It was soooo perfect!) And when I got food poisoning on our honeymoon, he stayed by my side when my body did not-so-pretty things, covered me with blankets and got me medicine and cold cloths for my forehead. I’m thankful for the man who has been with me for almost 7 years, and is now my husband. This is the beginning of a beautiful journey together.
